Comment Moderation

I've switched from "anything goes" to "comment moderation on posts older than 14 days." Regular readers are quick to pipe up, so this isn't going to affect many people -- just the anonymous ones who keep linking to off-shore "opportunities" (this post is a particularly popular target).

4 comments:

  1. Wonder what the key word/phrase that bee-to-the-honeyed them?
    1) SIN?
    2)Miller Time?
    3) Dark night?

I'm moving my chips over to the "Miller Time" square.

On another note: WP, Of the last 5-6 times I've posted comments, each has bombed out because the "visual verification" box is blank, i.e., there's no word for me to type in as word verification.
Just thought you'd like to know that the comments are delayed (and sometimes re-typed differently than the original) due to this "security" change.

  2. I'm wishing Google gave the "investment" commentators the same grief. What gives, I wonder? Does the word "sin" give commentators a free pass?

  3. Funny.

Even with tiny readership, I too get the occasional strange spam in bad English or Russian, always on a few old posts that I'm pretty sure no one is looking at. Somebody out there's got a haphazard marketing operation for sure.

In my case, since more sophisticated commenting mechanism isn't something I want to fool with, can't but be thankful for low traffic.

  4. When I was working my first blog on a private server the amount of spam I was getting was absolutely staggering, even after tweaking the filter to ever stricter degrees. This interwebz is certainly a mixed blessing.
