My young manager at Astral Photo in the Eaton Place had a boyfriend who belonged to Toastmasters. He took me aside and explained what Toastmasters was all about. And then he was done -- he was through talking with me.
"Looks pretty busy out there..."
In Germany some years later, we were on a car ride. It was a long drive so I tried explaining to our German hosts what Toastmasters was.
"This 'toast,'" he said, "What is it?"
"It's like 'prost,'" I said.
"Ah, prsot-masters."
