WP, Your time is coming. Your "cool" time, I mean. Once your daughters start giving you burned CD's of some of their fav's, the barriers of "getting it" are replaced by the paternal desire to understand one's daughters. I'm going on about this only because my own daughter passed on the Vampire Weekend cd to me back in Spring, thinking I'd get a kick out of it.
I'm getting a kick out of her so....I'm trying to get at least a nudge out of the album. All I can say is that the album's better than any single song on Dr. Dog, whose "Hang On" Mr. Hornby lists as one of his Best of 2008 songs. I'm still out there in the land of incomprehension about these guys.
Maybe if my daughter took a liking to them, I may. "May" being the operative word.
My time indeed may yet return, given how intent my daughters are on convincing me of the charms within the Mama Mia soundtrack. The question is: will I live long enough to persuade myself of my regenerated coolness?
