Memories of the suckerish youth that the Barnum & Baileys of the world preyed upon. I remember those "electric guitars plugged into nothing" and I thought how off the map California must be! Hey, while we dregs were hauling coal and melting iron ore here on the East Coast, in ther Land of the Lotus Eaters they were singing the body electric..but without electricity. What land, pray tell, is this?

All things new and awesome came from California; I half-expected to read that girls had three breasts (always need a spare) and guys were born bronzed gold (Even chemistry was different out there; you can be golden and bronzed to boot. Simultaneously).

I wasn't a Gidget fan myself. A bit too white, if you know what I mean. My weakness were the Annette Funicello movies. Look at that! You can look and be in your mid 20's (or was she in her late 20's) and still cavort like a teenager. Seeing her and Frankie Avalon together AND having fun even made being short seem like an acceptable lifestyle out there. California, where everything was possible, even an overwhelming sense of emptiness.

As far as revealling your love of Gidget, it seems you are getting quite comfortable with opening up all of the closets in that multiple room soul of yours. Great reading.DarkoVhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11572734667248592785noreply@blogger.com
